I am passionate about making the sports industry more inclusive by serving a more diverse sports audience, one that focuses on women, people of color, and a younger demographic. But I am also driven by my desire to create more diversity behind the scenes, for those that are making the decisions on what and how sports is consumed. That is why I am a champion not just of serving a diverse fan base, but also of better distribution of women’s sports, as well as the empowerment of women and people of color working in the sports industry. Back in 2011, while attending business school and strategizing my next career move, I attended an Atletico Madrid game and suddenly it all clicked. I remember the atmosphere, the fervor, the devotion of the multigenerational fans rooting for the team they love, it was like something I had never experienced before. While I always loved sports, I never thought of it as a realistic career path, but at that moment I knew that it was what I was meant to do. That is also what drives my passion of making sports careers more accessible and welcoming to everyone, especially young women of color. I’m a first-generation Latina whose background in partnerships, strategy, and business development inform my calculated but innovative approach. I lead with an open mind, empathy, integrity, and the work ethic instilled in me by the strong women who raised me. I am rooted in passion, joy, and community. I’m not afraid to jump into the unknown, be uncomfortable, and thrive in it. It’s that tenacity and fearlessness that I take with me in any position I’m in. I make it my business to inconvenience the status quo. As a woman of color in the business of sports, I have often been the only woman and/or person of color in the room. As such, I understand my seat at the table itself may be revolutionary, that is why I conduct business in a revolutionary manner. A theme throughout my life has always been to conquer every challenge thrown at me and come out exceeding expectations. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA.
